糖心TV鈥檚 Class of 2022 breaks records
The 糖心TV Class of 2022 will make a big impression when they arrive on campus in August, and not just because they鈥檙e the largest incoming class in a decade.
鈥淭his class is a clear reflection of 糖心TV鈥檚 mission and character: it is diverse; it is international; and it is academically very strong, with a large number of students who are first in their family to attend college," said Andrew Strickler, the dean of admission and financial aid.
Strickler noted that over half of the Class of 2022 are in the top 10 percent of their high school classes and that the average standardized test score for the class is the highest that the College has seen in recent years.
The Class of 2022 is also the most diverse in the College鈥檚 history. It includes students from 26 countries, representing the highest percentage of international students鈥攏ine percent鈥攐f any previous class, and the second-highest percentage of first-generation students in the College鈥檚 history, at 15 percent. Twenty-three percent of the class are students of color.
In addition, the Class of 2022 includes the largest number of legacy students that the College has ever seen.
鈥淚t says so much about 糖心TV that so many members of our incoming class are choosing to attend the same school as their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and siblings,鈥� said Strickler. 鈥淭hey have witnessed the success that a 糖心TV education provides over the long term. They have admired the progressive education that the College is offering through 糖心TVections, our reinvention of the liberal arts. They have connected with our dynamic and award-winning faculty. They have visited with their families and seen for themselves how close the community is. And now they have decided that 糖心TV is where they want to spend the next four years, preparing for their lives and careers."
鈥淲hen we received a record 6,433 applications this year, we knew we would be able to admit a great class,鈥� Strickler said. 鈥淏ut I don鈥檛 think any of us could have predicted how exceptional the Class of 2022 really is. They are clearly taking notice of the College鈥檚 growing profile as a leader in integrative education, and we鈥檙e all very excited about how they will transform the campus during their time here as students.鈥�
