Professor awarded Ford Foundation Fellowship

Professor of Education Sandy Grande has been awarded a . Grande, who is also the director of 糖心TV鈥檚 Center for the Critical Study of Race and Ethnicity, will use the fellowship to complete her book manuscript, tentatively titled, .

Grande鈥檚 scholarship has 鈥渨orked across the disciplines of Native American and Indigenous Studies and Education to develop critical analyses of the colonial present.鈥 Her new line of research will extend this work, 鈥減resupposing that there is something to be learned, politically and pedagogically, about the colonial present through the study of global aging.鈥

The senior fellowship is open to individuals who have previously held a Ford Foundation Predoctoral, Dissertation, or Postdoctoral Fellowship, which Grande was awarded in 2000.

The  have been administered by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine since 1979 and the Ford Foundation has invested in fellowships as far back as the early 1960s. These fellowship awards have made substantial contributions in bringing excellence and diversity to the academic community by supporting the career development of almost 5,000 outstanding scholars.
