Our philosophy department offers courses in all the major periods, figures and texts of the history of philosophy — Western and Asian — and the central areas of philosophical inquiry, including metaphysics, epistemology, ethics and logic.

Some regularly offered philosophy courses:

  • Philosophy of Law
  • Feminist Philosophy
  • Philosophy of Mind
  • Philosophy of Religion
  • Philosophy of Art
  • Time
  • Thinking Philosophically About the Environment
  • Philosophy of Science
  • Free Will and Moral Responsibility
  • Evil

Our department faculty members also develop new courses frequently, reflecting, in various ways, their developing research agendas, student interests, and the ever-growing ways in which philosophy is related to other disciplines. They also encourage students to propose "Individual Studies" on topics of mutual interest to the student and faculty member.
