The Tempel Institute for Course Innovation offers faculty an in-depth, sustained exploration of high-impact themes at the intersection of pedagogy and technology. Each cohort moves through a structured arc of intensive workshop, monthly community meetings, and ongoing consultation, providing support not just before your course, but during it.
Inaugural Theme: Digital Scholarship and Open Pedagogy
This inaugural cohort explores ways to extend student work beyond the classroom through public-facing projects such as digital archives, podcasts, interactive websites, StoryMaps, and digital texts. Students engage in original research and produce work they can share with future employers or graduate programs.
Program Components:
- Two-Day Intensive: Hands-on exploration of exemplar projects, tools, and course design
- Monthly Cohort Meetings: Troubleshooting, peer sharing, and tailored mini-workshops
- Ongoing Consultation: Dedicated Google Chat group and individual consultations with RS&CT staff
- Professional Development Funds: Up to $1,000 for fully participating faculty
Cohorts of 5–12 faculty are drawn from a diversity of disciplines, career stages, and course contexts. All faculty are eligible to apply and a Call for Proposal will be shared during the fall semester.
